The Emmys, Dog Huts, and Expanding My Base

By Big Smart Monkey Melody

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to share with you … a friend of mine just called and asked me to go to the Emmys tomorrow (Sunday).  I said okay!  So I’ll be on my merry way here pretty soon.  Now I just have to figure out what I’m going to wear!

Here’s something that I have found to be very powerful.  For this entire year, I’ve been focused on “revolutionizing my skills,” meaning in my business — learning all about marketing on the internet and many other things, including Blogging, like this, which I’m still getting used to.

As I’ve done this, over the course of this year, I have been intensely focused on work, allowing myself to be “driven,” in a certain way.  In fact, getting myself so focused that I am now producing major results.

Now that things are happening and expanding for me, I also have found that the power of my thoughts and words has expanded.  I got in a political argument with a friend the other night — now he doesn’t want to talk to me because of my opinion.  After that happened, I decided to focus on expanding my “base.”  (Base of close friends, activities, and so on.)  Sometimes I find that it is super easy to get caught in a routine of doing the same old safe thing with the same people.  I love my friends and I’m grateful for them.  AND I think I have gotten into a rut in that area.  Not dating!  Not expanding!  In those areas.

So this is my new deal.  Now, though I am still 100% focused and committed to my business, I am also bringing in other things in “life,” kind of like Sella building a “dog hut!” out in Wyoming.  I didn’t even know of such a thing.

When I put this thought of expanding my base out there, things started showing up!  It does take more energy to get something into motion than to keep it going (I think it’s the Law of Inertia or something), but I think that if you push past that first hard step, then who knows what lies ahead!!!

I can’t wait to see!  And I ask you:  What is one “project” or task that you need to Gather Your Energy for that requires you overcome the Initial Resistance that is naturally there?  What would you like to get done that you just haven’t been able to take that first step on?  And when are you going to take it?

It’s 5:00 somewhere.

Love,

Melody

    Melody,
Thank you for sharing so much with us. Your honesty, drive, focus and interest in our work and success, helps me to stay on target. – My neighbor & friend came over and helped me to put the roof on my “Dog Hilton”, so it is now finished, on schedule. – My Principle #1 is also filled in, but I need to refine it in the morning and will share then my Target Outcome. – Good night, Sella

Hey Melody, Nice post. I know the feeling of the same old “routine.” I’m also trying to expand by base of people and activites. Have fun at the Emmys! I will look for you on the red carpet. Michael

I hope you had fun at the Emmy’s. After a long hike, retrieving and babysitting a lost dog in the wilderness until the owner showed up, I settled in and watched the Emmy’s myself. I am sure you were much better dressed.

Regarding friends and people, I have found that the more you argue, the more each party is convinced their opinion is correct. So in my view, it is a waste of time. There is really no power in persuasion. Maybe that is why I like to write, to let my characters do the bickering and learn in the process. When negotiation is pertinent, the brain cells and emotions are pulled in many directions, like they are when we watch good movies.

The project I have put on the shelf for months, is to apply for my citizenship (I am a permanent resident). The Government wants to know my comings and goings for at least 10 years…. and would I pick up a gun and defend the US in case of war… Oh, well, I cannot convince them otherwise, so I must succumb…. I will spend an hour on the application today, after making corrections on my current screenplay.

It is raining. Superb working day.

    We are succeeding.

    Sella
